International Buddhist Day on April 8

International Buddhist Day is the day to celebrate the advent of Lord Buddha.
The ritual of pouring water onto the statue of newborn Buddha on the elephant with 6 tusks is to be performed on a large scale in the world.

International Buddhist Day 2019
On April 8, 2019, International Buddhist Day celebrating the advent of Lord Buddha was grandly held at the Royal Grand Hall of Buddhism. It was a very fine day and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Attended were H.E. the Vice President of Uganda, H.M. the King and H.R.H. the Queen Mother of Tooro Kingdom, T.M the King and Queen of Kooki Kingdom, and the supreme Buddhist leaders from 9 countries, that is, DR Congo, Japan, Kenya, Mongolia, the Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Uganda.

This celebration became a historical event showing that the light of Buddhism had reached the African continent.

A great many people from all over the country visited the temple to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism.
